The Canadian Identity
Inspired by discussion at Brighton Cafe

“What is a Canadian?” as he answered so sincere.
Keeping with custom and tradition we hold so dear.
The Americans have a melting pot where everyone fits a mould.
We have Rights and Freedoms
Where culture does unfold.
And being fully bilingual and multi-cultural to boot.
We wear so many uniforms and nothing appears to suit.
Trying to define “Canadian” so wide and vast and deep
And Nations of the World, their traditions allowed to keep.
So we are left in awe with what accent we want to choose.
And so many dialects, English is what we loose.
