Inspired by Incident at “No Stopping” Sign
By David Smith September 3, 2009
A congested street with traffic galore
What I do it for
An elderly woman crosses the street
With walker in hand as she shuffles her feet.
Think of my mom as I feel so sad.
Alone, crossing the street, without my dad.
Unsupervised and frail; as she gets out of a van
The driver leaves, fast as she can.
A busy street and paid parking at rear.
Disobedience to authority, my greatest fear.
The elderly in danger, a passionate concern;
Parking rules are in place,
When will caregivers learn?
