Old Vets on Remembrance Day Parade

Old Vets on Remembrance Day Parade

By David Smith November 11, 2009

My Father's Uncle Gordon Smith WWI

Old Vets are diminishing; age taking the toll.

The youth out in full force; School Busses on a roll.

Attendance was up in the bleachers around.

The vets on the ice surface; smaller numbers I’ve found.

O ‘tis wonderful to see the youth taking part.

Peace was acquired after war had its start.

Eyeing the youth and the possibilities of war;

To change the circumstances to keep peace on our shore,

Look at the youth, our loved ones of today.

We paved our past for the future per say

How they handle conflict. They mirror what they see

It’s what we reflect; how responsible we can be.

That’s what I got in remembrance of war;

Actions are important; raising children to adore.

    Inspired at Niagara Falls Arena on November 11th. Impressed with the turn out of the youth of the day. Sad to see the WWII vets in smaller numbers coming out each year. WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.
