Inspired by Picture on the wall at Dad’s Diner
By David Smith February 1, 2010
Dad’s Diner on a cold day it ‘twas;
In for the warmth, creating quite a buzz;
The lineman up the pole fascinates me
Not being able to climb, my liability.
A soldier in the army, on a lineman course he went.
Terrified of heights; as his time was fearfully spent.
Returned back to unit because he could not function in the air;
To have empathy for him; circumstances can compare.
And being up a pole to work like on the ground;
Looking at creation with life so profound.
Planted to the ground and a camera in the air;
Adapt to being grounded; my life I want to share.
