My Son’s Seventeenth Birthday

My Son’s Seventeenth Birthday

(Inspired by a waitress on the job)

My Son’s birthday; felt like it was mine;

Gave birth to him; seventeen years, in my youthful prime.

At work with the memory to celebrate the day;

The love of my life; as a toddler he could play.

Seventeen years later he is still on the scene;

Childhood memories, so vivid and keen;

My son’s birthday; time will not stand still;

Memory of his birth, remember the thrill!
