Race Horse Meat Poem
Headlines from Niagara Falls Review

“You can’t kill that horse!” the paper is clear;
The thoroughbreds in racing we hold so dear;
Full of enhancing drugs and rabbis shots too;
For those minute miles of betting so true;
Once they retire, to our plate they may come;
Those enhancing drugs put emotions on the run.
Horses are raised to win and succeed.
And full of drugs for the speed that they need;
But to our plate diet is strict;
For human consumption nutrition is the trick;
A different diet to raise animals for food;
Our health is the issue
Standards set the mood.
