The Slap

The Slap

By David Smith November 1, 2013

A casual acquaintance on my daily walk

Exchanged a few words,

Just small Talk

A leaf slapped my face on that windy day

It’s only a leaf!

I could hear her say

It felt like a slap with passion and sting

While talking to the woman and everything

It hurt much less than an emotional slap;

Cause there was no rejection with tempers that spat

And that slap of a wind driven leaf

It’s only an accident that brought some relief

A slap on the face has emotional scars

And drives men to drink and to frequent bars.
