The Speech Competition

The Speech Competition

By David Smith November 9, 2013

What a thrill and excitement to speak

To a full house, even

Sitting on window sills for a peak

Packed like sardines and in front of the crowd

To speak my best

Voice good and loud

The pulse of the audience, being in tune

A connection of sorts with everyone in the room

Two minutes of fame felt like a passionate kiss

The excitement of the crowd, nothing was a miss

What a feeling to be on the stage

An emotional rollercoaster, as I come of age

To tap into the feeling and the passion to express

The role of a Toastmaster is more than a guess

Thanks be to Rose City and the area too

The division and the district

Our roles that we do

What a thrill to be part of a Team

A self help group to control nervous steam
