Inspired by a Step Ladder
By David Smith March 18, 2015
A step ladder, the rungs all covered in paint;
A working ladder, so useful and quaint
Think of the support the painters had,
As cans were opened, where brushes go mad;
The painters, the constant step up and down;
Rest their paint cans. Walls all around;
The stories the step ladder could tell;
Commercial and residential, jobs that go well
The paint is on thick and well over time;
A history of the ladder keeps imagination at its prime.
What I can see from a ladder that’s used
All in its usefulness and never abused;
If those rungs could talk, the ladder says it all
The paint, the painters step up so tall.
