The Fire Alarm Test
By David Smith March 11, 2017
Like a metronome, as the fire alarm beats away;
Checking the decibels on this fine day;
That irritating beat from floor to floor;
That piercing sound, What a chore!
Engineering intelligence, for what is worth;
Documenting sound, like a cry at birth;
It’s only a test, there appears no end;
That distressful sound, a message to send;
Checking the volume when it’s quiet and on high
A study in irritation,
The alarm with a cry;
It is only a test of the fire alarm
That constant rhythm may cause a lot of harm;
If smoke won’t get you, the fire alarm will;
To ignore the beat, a death defying thrill.
